In 1991 the "Centre for Research in Astrology" under the umbrella of the "German Astrologers Association" (Deutscher Astrologen-Verband: DAV) was founded. It is led by Peter Niehenke, PhD, who once graduated on a doctoral theses: Critical Astrology - an epistemological and empirical psychological study.

The focus of interest is the question of appropriate scientific methods for investigating astrology. In addition, the center will support all students doing research in the field of astrology (examination papers or doctoral theses). In order to do this the center has built a database of articles in astrological journals.
